(He is not mentoned in Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae which means that he was a dissenter). During his time in Edinburgh he must have married as a child was born and died at a few days old (see in 1733 below) There is no record of his wife, who must also have died.

He was in the army when he married her and by 1760 he had left the army. In 1761 he was in London with a wife Eleonor, where his son Robert was baptised. Lillias married David Sherriff in 1781.
The University of St. Andrews holds a record in its archive showing that by 1799 Robert was back in Fife ”Autograph letter, signed, George Hill, Principal of St Mary’s College, University of St Andrews, to Henry Dundas, later 1st Viscount Melville. ‘Enclosing a memorial [ms4780] concerning David Hutton, son of the minister of Kilmany [Fife] now totally disabled by an increasing epilepsy and residing with Robert Tullideph, son of Principal Tullideph, a farmer in the parish of Scoonie or Leven [Fife].
